Pellervo Dark is a Brazilian dark roast coffee that makes that familiar, reliable everyday cup, just from a better bean. It is the same Topazio from Fazenda do Cruzeiro as our medium roast Pellervo, but we roast it darker in Mikkeli. The darker roast brings body and dark chocolate to the cup, with berry notes in the background. Good black, even better with milk.

Who is Pellervo Dark for?

For you, if you drink several cups a day and want every one to taste just as good. Pellervo Dark is a steady dark roast coffee for drip coffee makers and boiled coffee, and it also works in a moka pot and as espresso. Choose a grind and we grind it for you, or take whole beans for your own grinder or coffee machine. About the origin of Pellervo

The history of Fazenda do Cruzeiro dates back to 1923, when Avelino Ferreira de Aguiar and Maria Julia de Paiva Aguiar were married. Both came from traditional families in the municipality of Santo Antônio do Amparo. As a farmer and coffee grower, Avelino stood out by constantly striving to develop his business. He was one of the first in the whole region to have electricity, a telephone line and running water in his home. Avelino was also a pioneer who installed a coffee processing machine, which was very advanced for its time.

The current owner, Ivan Junqueira Ribeiro, bought out the shares of his mother, uncles and aunts and reunited the farm in 2006. From a young age, Ivan and his brother spent weekends and holidays at Fazenda do Cruzeiro with their grandparents. Ivan wanted to keep the farm going to keep his family's memories alive, to invest in an alternative business and to give his daughters the same good experiences he had on the farm as a child.

How much caffeine is in dark roast coffee?

About the same as in light roast. The roast level barely changes the caffeine: the caffeine in your cup depends on how much coffee you use and how you brew it. Pellervo Dark is arabica, which naturally has less caffeine than robusta.

What is the difference between Pellervo and Pellervo Dark?

Same Topazio, different roast. The medium roast Pellervo is lighter, while the dark one is fuller, with dark chocolate and berry notes.

What is Topazio?

Topazio is an arabica variety bred in Brazil. We also use it in our Terveiset Mikkelistä! souvenir coffee.

Which dark roast coffee for boiled coffee?

Pellervo Dark makes great boiled coffee. Choose Pannu (boiled coffee) as your grind.

Does a 1 kg bag last long?

The 1 kg bag is the best value: €35.60 per kilo, while in 500 g bags a kilo costs €38.60. Keep the bag closed in a cool, dark place and the flavour stays.
