Finland's 30 best cafés 2026: number 16

Kirjala café is number 16 on Helsinki Coffee Week's Finland's 30 best cafés list for 2026. The list is chosen by nearly 200 coffee professionals. We've been on the list four years in a row (number 13 in 2023, number 19 in 2024 and 2025), and we came second in the public vote. We're the only café in Mikkeli on the list. Read more on our blog.

Falstaff Coffee Guide Nordics 2026: 94 points

The international Falstaff Coffee Guide Nordics 2026 rates cafés in five countries and gave Kirjala café 94 points out of 100. The coffee got a full 40/40, the food 28/30, style and atmosphere 17/20 and service 9/10. The coffee is roasted at our own roastery in Heimari, and you can get the same coffees from our online shop.

New Entrepreneur of the Year 2026: honourable mention and audience favourite

Kirjalan Paahtimo made it to the final of the national New Entrepreneur of the Year 2026 competition. The jury gave us an honourable mention for our brave career change, strong brand building, community spirit and revenue growth, and we won the public vote, getting about half of the nearly 1,200 votes. Mikkeli Region New Entrepreneur of the Year 2026

The Mikkeli Region Enterprise Agency chose Kirjalan Paahtimo as the Mikkeli Region New Entrepreneur of the Year in September 2026, reported Länsi-Savo. Our café opened on Nuijamiestenkatu in May 2020, and our dad Olli roasts the coffee at our own roastery in Heimari. The café, roastery and online shop are a business shared by the whole family. Kirjalan Paahtimo was voted Mikkeli's online shop of the year 2025 in the Miksei Mikkeli public vote, reported Mikkelin Kaupunkilehti. Our online shop sends fresh coffee, coffee gifts and brewing gear to your home, and you can also pick up your order from our café in Mikkeli. Orders over €59 ship free within Finland.
