About the coffee

In the mountains of Colombia, coffee grows on small family farms where every harvest is more than just work for the grower: it is part of everyday life, tradition and pride. When the coffee cherries are hand-picked and processed on the farm itself, the coffee gets exactly the character that makes Colombia such a beloved coffee country: diverse, nuanced and genuine.

Behind this coffee are several smallholder farmers, countless microclimates, bold experiments and the growers' own vision of how to bring out the best in the bean. Every lot is a little different, but they all share the same honest flavour and careful craftsmanship.

It means medium-sized, carefully sorted beans that make a clean, balanced cup without big surprises. The EP marking next to Excelso also tells you the beans have been hand-sorted, which reduces defects even further. The Excelso grade and hand-sorting make sure the cup is clean and balanced: a coffee that doesn't make a fuss about itself, but which you notice from the very first sip.
