Pellervo - Brazilian medium roast coffee from Fazenda do Cruzeiro

Chocolate • Nutty • Berry

Pellervo is a Brazilian medium roast coffee: smooth and sweet, chocolatey, nutty and berry-like. If you're looking for a balanced, chocolatey coffee for espresso or filter, Pellervo is your coffee.

This medium roast coffee from Brazil gives you a smooth, sweet cup with the nuttiness so typical of Brazilian coffee. As an espresso in particular, it brings out a strong berry juice sweetness, while as filter coffee Pellervo is a safe bet for anyone who loves a balanced, chocolatey cup, whether black or with milk.

Where Pellervo comes from

The story of Fazenda do Cruzeiro goes back to 1923, when Avelino Ferreira de Aguiar and Maria Julia de Paiva Aguiar got married. Both came from traditional families in the municipality of Santo Antônio do Amparo. As a farmer and coffee grower, Avelino stood out for always looking for ways to develop his business. He was one of the first in the whole region to have electricity, a telephone line and running water at home. Avelino was also a pioneer who installed a coffee processing machine that was very advanced for its time.

The current owner, Ivan Junqueira Ribeiro, bought out the shares of his mother, uncles and aunts and brought the farm back together in 2006. Ever since they were little, Ivan and his brother spent weekends and holidays at Fazenda do Cruzeiro with their grandparents. Ivan wanted to keep the farm going to keep his family's memories alive, to invest in an alternative business and to give his daughters the same good experiences he had on the farm as a child.

Frequently asked questions

What does Pellervo taste like?

Pellervo is smooth and sweet. You'll taste chocolate, the nuttiness typical of Brazilian coffee and a berry-like note. As an espresso, a berry juice sweetness comes through.

Which brewing method suits Pellervo?

Pellervo works as espresso and as filter coffee, black or with milk. Choose the grind to match your brewer, or order whole beans if you grind your own.

What's the difference between Pellervo and Pellervo tumma?

Pellervo and Pellervo tumma are the same Topazio from Fazenda do Cruzeiro. We roast Pellervo tumma darker here in Mikkeli, so it's fuller-bodied with notes of dark chocolate.

Is Pellervo a good gift?

Yes. Pellervo is a smooth, chocolatey Brazilian medium roast with nutty and berry notes. As a balanced coffee, it's an easy gift when you don't know exactly what the recipient likes. If you don't know what brewer they use, choose a filter grind. You can send the gift straight to the recipient, and for a gift of three coffees, the Kirjalan Lahjalaatikko is a great fit.
