Ethiopian light roast coffee from the Yirgacheffe region

Berry • Honey • Juicy

Vipunen is an Ethiopian light roast coffee: berry-like, honeyed and juicy. If you're looking for a bright, sweet light roast for your pour over, Vipunen is your coffee.

Have a look at all our light roast coffees and our Ethiopian coffees too.

This sweet light roast wins you over with its juiciness and honey, balanced by fresh berry aromas. We especially recommend Vipunen for filter methods, which bring out its natural sweetness and brightness best. With pour over, for example on a Hario V60, Vipunen gives you a really bright, clean cup.

Where Vipunen comes from

Boledu, a coffee producer community founded in 2018, means "spring" (as in a water source) in the local language. Boledu's founders Abyote Ageze and Mebrahtu Aynalem have more than 12 years of experience in coffee. Boledu has produced high-quality coffees with various smallholders at its own washing stations in the Guji zone, Dimtu Hamblea, Yirgacheffe, Aricha and Gedeb.

Boledu's owners Abyote Ageze and Mebrahtu Aynalem have worked with the farmers for a long time, and before every harvest the producer community trains the farmers in specialty coffee standards. Boledu also pays the smallholders above the market price, but in return requires consistent, ripe cherry quality. Quality controllers at the washing stations keep an eye on the quality of each batch of cherries the farmers bring in. This coffee was produced at the Aricha washing station.
