Pellervo Dark is a Brazilian dark roast coffee that makes that familiar everyday cup, just from a better bean. It is the same Topazio from Fazenda Cruzeiro as our medium roast Pellervo, but our dad Olli roasts it darker in Mikkeli, Finland. The darker roast brings body and dark chocolate to the cup, with berry notes in the background. Good black, even better with milk.

Who is Pellervo Dark for?

For you who drink several cups a day and want each one to taste just as good. Pellervo Dark is a steady dark roast for drip coffee makers and boiled coffee, and it also works in a moka pot and as espresso. Choose your grind and we grind it for you, or take whole beans for your own grinder or coffee machine. About the origin of Pellervo

The history of Fazenda Cruzeiro dates back to 1923, when Avelino Ferreira de Aguiar and Maria Julia de Paiva Aguiar were married. Both came from traditional families in the municipality of Santo Antônio do Amparo. As a farmer and coffee grower, Avelino distinguished himself by striving for continuous development in his business. He was one of the first in the entire region to have electricity, a telephone line, and running water in his household. Avelino was also a pioneer who installed a coffee processing machine, which was very advanced for the time.

The current owner, Ivan Junqueira Ribeiro, bought the shares belonging to his mother, uncles, and aunts, and reunited the estate in 2006. Ivan and his brothers spent their weekends and holidays at Fazenda Cruzeiro with their grandparents from a young age. Because of this, Ivan wanted to continue operations on the farm to keep his family's memories alive, to invest in an alternative business, and to provide his daughters with the same good experiences he had on the farm as a child.

How much caffeine is in dark roast coffee?

About the same as in light roast. The roast level barely changes the caffeine. The amount in your cup depends on how much coffee you use and how you brew it. Pellervo Dark is arabica, which naturally has less caffeine than robusta.

What is the difference between Pellervo and Pellervo Dark?

Same Topazio, different roast. The medium roast Pellervo is lighter, while the dark one is fuller, with dark chocolate and berry notes.

What is Topazio?

Topazio is an arabica variety bred in Brazil. We also use it in our Greetings from Mikkeli! souvenir coffee.

Which dark roast coffee for boiled coffee?

Pellervo Dark works well as boiled coffee. Choose the Pot grind.
