Women's Crown - Rugori Experimental - Rwandan Light Roast Coffee
Orange • Sweet apple • Cherry notes • Yogurt
Grown at high altitudes, between 1600–2100 meters above sea level, these coffees undergo careful processing. The result is a nuanced and balanced flavor profile, in which you can find cherry, berries, yogurt, sweet apple, green tea, orange, and herbal tones. A full-bodied texture and a multi-dimensional, sweet acidity complete the experience.
Valuing the work of female farmers, Rugori experimental is an experimental small batch from Gasharu Coffee, produced and processed exclusively by women.
The majority of the work in coffee farming and processing is done by women, yet only a small portion of the coffee's profit goes to women despite their contribution and responsibilities on the farms.
About Gasharu Coffee
A young, innovative, quality-driven producer.
Gasharu Coffee is a Rwandan family business with roots reaching back to 1976, when young farmer Celestin Rumenerangabo planted his first coffee trees in the Nyamasheke region. Today, the company is led by his son, and Gasharu operates two washing stations – Gasharu and Muhororo – where over 1650 smallholder farmers bring their harvests for processing.
Their selection includes natural processed, washed, honey-processed, and innovative anaerobic experiments.
Gasharu CWS produces up to 8 containers of coffee annually.
